Frequently asked questions
Shipping is free on UK orders over £100.00. Collection from the store in Bedminster is free on any order. For anything below the free-shipping threshold, contact us and we will confirm the postage before you order.
We use Royal Mail and DPD, and always send first class or Tracked 24/48. You can use the Royal Mail App to manage your own Safeplace or tailor your delivery options before the parcel arrives. If you designate a specific unsecured location as a Safeplace, we and Royal Mail are not held responsible if the parcel goes missing after delivery. If a package is returned to us because it was not collected, the customer is responsible for the return costs and a reshipment fee.
No. Our fish are sold in the shop only, so that we can make sure every fish is fit for the move to your aquarium and talk to you about whether it suits your tank. Our stock changes weekly - we have weekly deliveries of top quality fish from all over the world. To avoid disappointment please call ahead or send us a message to check availability.
We offer a 48-hour guarantee on all freshwater tropical fish when the correct conditions are met. We need to be notified by phone or email of the fish loss within 48 hours of purchase, you need to keep your receipt, and a sample of water from your aquarium must be tested by us within that 48-hour period - we do this free of charge. The water must show Ammonia 0ppm, Nitrite 0ppm, Nitrate 0-40ppm and a pH within suitable parameters for the species. The fish must be brought in with you. Water parameters outside the above will not qualify for a replacement.
We care about the health and quality of our livestock and have invested in individually filtered aquariums rather than a large, centralised system where the tanks are connected. That means no cross contamination and no pathogens crossing between tanks. Regular water tests ensure perfect conditions in our sale aquariums, and we will only ever sell a fish that is fit for the move to your home aquarium.
We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. This is not offered on live plants, where the return policy is within 24 hours of you receiving the plants. To be eligible, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused and in its original packaging, and you will need the receipt or proof of purchase. To start a return, contact us at [email protected]. We do not offer a returns label and any return will be at the buyer's cost unless agreed with us. Items sent back without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods such as fish food, liquids that have had the seal broken, and electrical items that have been used and are not faulty. We also cannot accept returns on gift cards. Please inspect your order on arrival and contact us immediately if an item is defective or damaged, or if you receive the wrong item - we will need photographs right away so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
